What are infectious diseases?

Added: August 6, 2008 | Time 00:46 | Views: 85

Infectious diseases are caused by microorganisms, like viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungus. Some infections affect the entire body while others may only affect one organ or system of the body. Because these diseases are contagious, they can be spread from person to person. Ways in which you can become infected are by touching, eating, drinking, or breathing in one of these microorganisms that cause disease. Vaccines and good hygiene, like proper hand washing, can help prevent infections. Learn more about Infectious Disease here or share your story or experience with icyou.
