Some would argue that they are the two most neglected parts of our body — our feet. Not only do we forget to give them the daily care we give to…say…our skin and teeth…we often stuff them in ill-fitting shoes or don’t trim our toenails. When they call out for help by becoming dry, swollen or calloused, we treat them as nuisances that limit our ability to get around. The point is that feet need to be soothed, protected and cared for just like any other part of the body. Medical conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis and diseases of the blood vessels can make foot wear and tear worse. Wear proper-fitting shoes, check your feet regularly and keep them moving. Fungus thrives in warm, moist areas, so if you get a fungus infection, treat it immediately.
